Meeting Minutes September 2019

Introductions – around the room

Lila Ortuno – Fall Fundraiser
Casey Mescher  – Beltrami Photo Op

·         Brady nominates Liz for Secretary; second by April O’Dell.  Voted upon by members.  Passed.
·         Membership Announcement – voting memberships - $5.
·         PTO v PTA – Why did we make switch?
o   PTO shared one EIN number and bank account;
o   Working with Milton regarding PTA’s; tax forms; etc.; Wider network and organization.
o   Donations from local businesses – we are now tax exempt.
·         Finances Update by Treasurer–
o   Have not spent anything yet
o   $4,000 sitting in money market account – goal is $2,000 annually for artist in residence.
·         Set up of PTA
o   Goal this year is to create groups/committees –
§  Events Committee
§  Fundraising Committee
§  Volunteers
o   Liz – question?  Will there be a head of committee who will take notes about their specific breakouts, or does the secretary need to check in with each?  Brady: Yes, there will be a head of the committee.
·         BBQ update by Brady –
o   Issues –
§  there are no apples this year.  April suggested contacting Steve Davis, who is the head of food.
§  Chapin Orchards – Sue Kelley will call.  Text – each other.  Bag of apples.
§  Rain Location – high school cafeteria
§  Set up – gracious – didn’t have water and didn’t get set up in time.
§  One parent – would love to help, but need someone to take care of kids. 
§  Ask Steve for more than 2.  April O’Dell - next year – ask Coke for a donation for water.  Brady will email Steve and ask for 4 jugs.  Molly will ask Mark and Sean.
§  Decision on weather and rain location by 3:00 – Mr. Antonicci will blast emails and text.
·         Fundraiser
o   School family photos – would like an update by tomorrow.  There are only 5 families.
o   Price list – suggestion -  is a little bit high and people may be intimidated by it.
o   Could we put it on facebook?  Mr. Antonicci will put it on facebook.
·         Book Fair
o   Needs volunteers – parents volunteer to help kids with wish lists – paper sign up.
o   Proceeds from the Spring book fair go to PTA.
·         Check for Lake Monsters fundraiser raised $121.83 – lower than previous year.
·         Box Tops – scan your receipt in 14 days; likely see a decrease in the proceeds from that.  $143.00 collected over summer  – did we receive the $93 check from Spring?
·         Remind UMS community that we have childcare here for PTA meetings – for free – bring your children.
