PTO Minutes

Kelly Barnett, Marla Woulf, Stefanie Whalen, Chris Seguin, Julianne Seguin,
Toni Josey, Brent Sitterly, Amy Sitterly, April O’Dell and Chris Antonicci.
Book Fair
Help is needed for the book fair (3/25-3/28). Brady will create sign up genius. Lots of fun
and this bookfair funds goes to the PTO.
Danielle Bevins (CMS president) re PTO/PTA
Danielle has done extensive research on PTA vs PTO vs 501C3
510C3 need lawyer to setup; fees to file approx. $400-800
estimated to Govt. If income under 50K/year
file 990 form yearly for tax forms.
PTA is member based. Members
pay 2.25/national and 2.25 VT so 4.50 per person/year to be member. Paying members get voting rights. Members are per school basis. We can add to fee for additional income, if
desired.
Existing PTO can choose to cover Board dues (i.e.principal,
BTFE, officers) if desired.
Insurance is recommended – min Board of Directors Insurance
($1M coverage @65/yr)
PTO votes option in
Rep will come from CT to assist in setup (file paperwork,
get Fed ID #, institute by-laws, etc.)
We would be part of National PTA so 501C3.
Donations accepted tax free.
Create new bank account with new Fed ID #. Grants
available from National. Run meeting
with voting items in.
Chris to follow up with Jeanie’s husband who was investigating
501C3 options for us. We will further
discuss in APRIL.
GrandFriends Day?
YES/NO?? When? Ideas?
Reach out to Sr Centers/ Retired staff for volunteers. Chris/Kelly to reach out to staff for
decisions.
Student Assistance
Carol McCleary suggested summer camp for student who lost
parent. Brady to reach out and work with Isaac at Parks/Rec for
deals/availability.
Teacher Appreciation
Potluck 3 days (by grade).
Superhero Theme. Need donations
for raffles. NEED VOLUNTEER TO HEP!!
Blog wishlist / parent donations for teacher gift bags.
$50 Budget -- suggestion to wash staff cars?
Family Skate
Flyers went out 3/12/19.
Confirmed for 3/30 at Essex.

Nurse Kelly will pick up pizzas, Brady will get cookies from
Costco. Water/Donation Jar at evet.
Signups due by 3/26.
Miscellaneous Items
Thank you to Toni – Special Person Dance was AWESOME!!
Chris asked us to help spread the word about parking issues
at UMS. Hope to get snow cleared ASAP.
Chris announced we finally received a check from Beltrami
for fall photo fundraiser sales - $576.00
